    For each magnet/coil system here, the magnets (on the rotor) are rotating past the fixed coils.

    This has nothing to do with coil shapes, etc, right now, I’m more interested in magnet field strength and getting the most out of it.

    For some simple experiments about all this, take a magnet and some metal, like a bolt or something, and you will see how you can “extend” and shape a magnetic field. I guess it is best to initially start with a flat iron plate as big as the manet to begin with for some flux conductor shapes and projects.

    Perhaps you have a lower grade magnets than what is possible, and one of these methods would effectively enhance those magnets.

    Also consider the first drawing, 1 magnet per coil, for example. I guess it is possible to put another coil near the south side of the magnet to generate some more electricity.

    I have not constructed a generator yet (it could be as simple as one coil and one magnet). Along time ago I did make an “dc motor” that everybody else seems to make with some coil wrapped around a piece of wood or cork and a magnet or two, etc. I think it worked a bit, and I didnt really improve on it or anything. You can also make a similar motor by having the coil stationary and the magnet allowed to rotate.

    From the start though, having dual magnets, or metal flux guides per coil increases the weight of the rotor and energy needed to start the rotation, however, once rotating, the weight is good for the flywheel momentum effect.

    I read and understand that the stronger a magnetic field is throught the coil, the more voltage can be generated. I think with only one magnet alone, the magnetic (flux, force) field will curve around to the other side of the magnet. Using another magnet on the other side of the coil and/or a metal flux conductor can put more magnetic field through the coil. I think obtaining some horseshoe shaped neodymium magets is difficult and costly.

    Because of possible “eddy currents” in metal, often, laminations of thin pieces of metal are “built up” with glue/epoxy coatings to prevent these currents which reduce efficiency a bit. This is up to you if you decide to or not. I think I read people mixing some material such as glue, epoxy, resins, Bond, or plaster with iron filings to make these “magnetic path constructions”.

    The goal is not to have huge magnets, but the strongest, lightest weight ones, and then use another magnetic field of opposite polarity to get the most magnetic field through the windings of the coil, rather than loop back around to the same magnet itself.

    In the video it is understood that the magnets are to be rotated, however it is possible to rotate the coils if some “commutator / slip rings” are utilized…but then some type of contacts (“brushes”) would be necessisary. If the magnets are to be rotated then the output wires of the coils would get in the way of the rotation, however, this can be avoided if the wires are place within the axis/shaft of the generator construction.

    Other posibillities for the magnet/coil placemenets are possible for generators. For example the coils or magnets need not be on the flat surface of the rotor, but perhaps on the circumferences edge of it.
