We always carry out CCTV camera surveys of customers pumped liners on our first visit prior to sweeping whenever possible to ascertain the condition of the flue. This one serves a Villager wood burning stove, the spiked bird guard and the mesh in the Louvre chimney pot are not presenting any obvious problems what is of concern is the circles of steel hooks at regular intervals down the flue liner. They appear to be constructional and were placed in the flue as the liner was poured back in 2006 and were used to centralise the former, what puzzles me is that I’ve never seen them on any of our surveys of pumped liners. The liner is showing cracks and some damage from water ingress but is the liner breaking down if these steel constructional parts can be seen within the flue. A phone call to the NACE engineer who fitted the liner is required.
