MakerBot recommends doing routine maintenance after 50 hours of print time. I’m currently at 45 hours and both my X-axis idler pulley and Z-axis threaded rod are squeaking. In addition I’m having a large amount of extrusion failures. This video shows how to lubricate your rods and clean your extruder drive gear.

Keep in mind you’ll still need to order a spring and a few other parts. That’s why I opted for the MakerBot “kit”.
